Reingold is expanding our UX team and seeking a Senior UX Designer to join us as a strategic thinker and UX thought partner. In this full-time, hybrid position, you will take ownership of major UX projects from conception through delivery, acting as the primary lead for a diverse set of clients, including those in government, nonprofit, and private enterprise. We are looking for someone with a proven track record in successfully managing complex digital projects and guiding multidisciplinary teams toward creative, user-centered solutions. You will collaborate with colleagues across disciplines, mentor junior designers, and play a key role in shaping the future of our UX practice. This is a hybrid role, requiring at least two days per week on site at Reingold’s headquarters in Alexandria, VA or one day per week on site at our Raleigh, NC office.

Here’s the work you’ll do:

Essential Functions:
  • Translate client business goals into compelling, effective digital experiences and actionable deliverables such as research reports, strategy documents, site maps, user flows, wireframes, and prototypes.
  • Present solutions and clearly articulate your design rationale to clients and stakeholders.
  • Facilitate workshops, journey mapping sessions, or design sprints to inspire creativity and keep projects moving forward.
  • Build strong, collaborative partnerships with clients, acting as a trusted advisor through every step of the design process.
  • Conduct comprehensive user research and usability testing, turning insights into smart design decisions.
  • Mentor junior UX designers, supporting their professional growth and providing guidance and feedback.
  • Collaborate across disciplines, including developers, project managers, content strategists, and others, to develop effective, user-centered solutions.
  • Stay on top of industry trends and innovations, bringing new ideas and best practices to your work.

This role is a good fit for someone with these qualifications, experience and skills:

Required Qualifications:
  • Active Secret clearance or ability to obtain one.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field.
  • 5+ years of experience in UX design, information architecture, interaction design, or similar roles.
  • A proven ability to build strong, collaborative relationships with clients.
  • Direct experience facilitating workshops, journey mapping sessions, or design sprints.
  • Demonstrated skill in conducting and synthesizing user research and content strategies.
  • A portfolio featuring outstanding UX and IA deliverables.
  • Creative, resourceful, adaptable, and proactive.
  • Comfortable switching gears when needed, knowing when to innovate and when to keep it simple.
  • Experience mentoring or supporting less-experienced team members.
  • Conducting user research activities, like interviews, usability testing, tree testing, etc.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Managed one or more supervisees.
  • Mentored colleagues on Agile workflows and UX best practices.
  • Collaborated with teams such as digital marketing, analytics, and content strategy on integrated project strategies and deliverables.
  • Built and maintained relationships with senior leaders and executive stakeholders.
  • Assisted with business development efforts, such as providing UX consulting and creating budget estimates.
Supervisory Responsibilities: This position will not have direct reports but will be expected to mentor junior teammates and to lead by example and influence.

Work environment and physical requirements: Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds.
